For a long time, Micki XO struggled with self-love and self-care, whether it came to loving her body, feeling imprisoned in her mind, or wanting to desperately be someone else. Through music, the right regimens, and the love of those close to her, a beautiful thing happened. She finally began to love herself and see the beauty and uniqueness in what she used to consider flaws. This song showcases the peace that Micki XO found in loving herself, while also acknowledging that it didn’t happen overnight. It boasts a laid-back vibe with ambient synths and low, cool bass-tones to create a cosmic and dreamy pop sound. “Moonlight” garnered a lot of attention from reviewers and listeners, and We Write About Music reviewed it as a “perfectly executed song from an emerging artist.”
